Mandatory Concussion Training
Ohio State Law requires all coaches and officials of youth sports to complete concussion training every 3 years. Youths are considered to be any athlete age 19 or under in any sport.
The state of Ohio only recognizes 2 concussion training videos. The most commonly used one is provided by NFHS (National Federation of High School Sports).
This is a free course. Your certification lasts for, and must be renewed, every 3 years. It covers you for ALL sports (football, soccer, etc), so you only need to take it once every 3 years.
Here is the link to the website course. It is called Concussion in Sports. https://nfhslearn.com/courses/61037/concussion-in-sports
You will need to create your own account (register). Then you must click on the button “Order the Course,” even though it is a free course. You will put it in a shopping cart, with a price of $0.00.
When the video starts, you will be given a short 5 question pre-test. The video training is about 20 minutes. At the end of the video, you will take the 5 question test again.
Your certificate number will be stored on the NFHS website in your account.
Once you complete the course, you should record the certificate training number - it will be necessary for you to give that number to CVBA. Additionally, you can access and/or print your certificate number anytime online at the NFHS website above.
